Pregnancy Chiropractic on the Mornington Peninsula
Gentle, pregnancy specific care for expectant mums in Balnarring and across the Peninsula. Supporting your body through every trimester.
Why Pregnancy Can Feel So Uncomfortable
Your body does an incredible amount of work during pregnancy. Your posture shifts forward, your pelvis widens, and a hormone called relaxin loosens the ligaments that normally hold everything stable. That’s all by design, but it doesn’t always feel great.
Lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain, round ligament tension, sore hips, and restless nights are some of the most common complaints we hear from expectant mums, especially from the second trimester onward. These things can make it hard to walk, sleep, pick up your toddler, or just get through the day.
That’s exactly what we see every week at Balnarring Chiropractic, and it’s exactly what we’re set up to help with.
How Chiropractic Care May Support You During Pregnancy
Many expectant mums find chiropractic care a valuable part of their pregnancy support. All care at Balnarring Chiropractic during pregnancy is gentle, specific to your stage, and adjusted as your body changes.
Pelvic and sacral function
As your pelvis adapts to pregnancy, your sacroiliac joints and the structures around them can become uncomfortable. We focus on the pelvis, sacrum, and lower back, the areas that take on the most change during pregnancy.
Lower back and hip comfort
Back pain and hip aching are among the most common reasons pregnant women visit a chiropractor. As your centre of gravity shifts each trimester, gentle and specific adjustments may help you stay more comfortable day to day.
Postural support
Your posture changes a lot when you’re carrying. We work with you to support how your spine and body are moving, particularly as your bump grows and the weight sits further forward.
Pelvic and pregnancy-focused technique
Our pregnancy care focuses on gentle, targeted adjustments to the pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding ligaments to support comfort and mobility as your body changes through each trimester. This includes specific soft tissue work and sacral analysis designed for the demands pregnancy places on your body.
All pregnancy care at Balnarring Chiropractic is gentle. We use pregnancy pillows and modified positioning throughout so you will never need to lie face down.
What to Expect at Balnarring Chiropractic
Your first visit starts with a thorough conversation about where you are in your pregnancy, what you’re experiencing, and what you’re hoping to get out of care. We always recommend staying in communication with your GP, midwife, or obstetrician, and we’re happy to liaise with your obstetric team where appropriate.
Every mum and every pregnancy is different. We’ll be honest about whether we think we can help, and we’ll never recommend care you don’t need.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
Yes. All techniques used during pregnancy are gentle and modified for each trimester. We use pregnancy pillows and adjusted positioning so you are comfortable at every stage. We always recommend keeping your GP, midwife, or obstetrician in the loop.
Is it safe for my baby?
Yes. There is no direct pressure on your belly at any point. Techniques are gentle and specifically adapted for pregnant women. If there is ever a reason chiropractic care is not suitable for you, we will let you know and refer you appropriately.
What trimester can I start?
You can start at any stage. Some women come in during the first trimester, others not until the third when discomfort increases. There is no wrong time to start.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly without a referral. We do recommend letting your GP or obstetrician know you are seeing a chiropractor so everyone involved in your care is on the same page.
Will it hurt?
No. Pregnancy adjustments are very gentle. Many women say it is the most comfortable part of their week.
Can I still come in during my third trimester?
Yes. We see women right up to their due date. The techniques we use are adapted as your body changes so you stay comfortable throughout.
Can I see a chiropractor after giving birth?
Yes. Many women come in after birth to help with recovery. Your body goes through a lot during labour and delivery, and postnatal care can support your recovery as you adjust to life with a newborn.
Do I have to lie on my stomach?
No. We use pregnancy pillows and modified positioning so you never have to lie face down. Most of our pregnancy care is done in a side lying or seated position.
Does private health insurance cover chiropractic during pregnancy?
Yes, if your policy includes chiropractic cover. We have HICAPS on site so you can claim your rebate on the spot.
